O Ent, Inc. is looking at record numbers of nominations for the Fifth Annual Carolina Music Awards. Whether it’s a positive outlook about the economy, or the fact that music in the Carolinas is getting more recognition, there are more and more people nominating their favorite artists and bands. What that means for the awards show is more nominees to choose from, and it helps the nominees stay in touch with their fan base.
Omar McCallop, owner of O Ent, Inc., works to ensure the Carolina Music Awards stays true to the original vision. From starting out as a local award show to recognize emerging artists and expanding into other states, the awards shows recognize all kinds of music and artists, from rock to R&B to bluegrass and country, and everything in between. New in 2012 are categories for Latin/Latina artists and bands. Winners are then chosen by popular vote and industry panel review, with the panelists chosen based on their strengths and understanding of each musical genre.
“The Carolina Music Awards has sold out for the last couple years, and with the added nominations, we expect that music lovers from all over the Carolinas will want to come see who won, even if it wasn’t their nominee,” states McCallop.
Nominations are still being taken at carolinamusicawards.com. While on the website, artists, their friends and fans can register for updates, reach out to and friend other musicians, and find their way to the Facebook fan page.
