The Blue Note Grill is Moving to Downtown Durham

By: Danielle Rode

The Blue Note Grill has been bringing artists to the Triangle for almost five years, serving up home cooking with live music six nights a week. They’ve featured artists in blues, rock, rockabilly, country, and Americana, not to mention names like Nancy Middleton, Willie Painter, The Nighthawks, Tinsley Ellis, Chris O’leary, Will McFarlane, and Madeleine Peyreux. Owned and operated by Bill and Andrea Whittington, The Blue Note Grill serves guests in an intimate, laid-back atmosphere where you're part of the family and you always have a good time.

Currently located at 4125 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., The Blue Note Grill will be moving downtown to 709 Washington St. where they’re hopeful the new location in Durham’s busy entertainment district will bring bigger acts and larger crowds. The new venue boasts two dining rooms and a bar, giving guests the opportunity to choose between the quieter atmosphere of a separate dining room or a front row seat beside the impressive new stage. The renovations also include a brand new kitchen, which will accommodate the talents of Andrea Whittington, The Blue Note Grill’s co-owner and chef. “All of the cooking is homemade by Andrea. It’s her show back there!” –Bill Whittington. The new venue will feature a similar menu with all of the old favorites including a few new dishes, “We’ll have a much bigger kitchen and the ability to do a lot more with the menu.” –Bill Whittington

The Blue Note Grill is known for their delicious menu as well as their entertainment, but what they’re most known for is taking customer service to the next level; they’ve created an atmosphere in which all of their guests feel at home while they eat and are entertained. Bill and Andrea know every one of their customers and go above and beyond to make you feel like you’re part of the family, “Nobody does it the way we do it…We make people want to come back, we make them feel comfortable.” The new venue downtown will keep the laid back intimacy that makes The Blue Note Grill so unique and combine that with a greater emphasis on live music says Bill of his hopes for the future, “We’re all about the music and presenting it bigger and better.” The renovations are sure to impress; The Blue Note Grill will continue their weekly line-up at the new venue and you can expect to see even bigger bands. You can find their weekly schedule at www.thebluenotegrill.com and their Facebook page. Come join the family and enjoy live music at a great venue with a delicious menu!
